AWA   Large & Stand Off Scale on 15th August at KAMS

Blessed with light winds and sunny skies it was great to have 8 pilots fly before the judges. These events have struggled to run over the last two years, so maybe this year is a sign of things to come. Maybe the Email from Secretary Murray to all members cleared any confusion from the Calendar omission.

A good variety of models was enjoyed by the watching visitors, some of whom noted  the event in the Windsock Calendar.
It was decided to run all the entries in Stand Off Scale as only 3 models arrived for Large Scale.
The smallest was Mark Crawford's electric Fokker Triplane while Scott Mathew's DH4 bomber was the largest.
Peter Snook had his 3D Sukhoi  SU26 which flew well but was hampered by lack of documentation to get a better score, however he had fun flying it.

The Scale Competitors.

The only visitor was Ray Sherburn from WARMS who won the Large Scale event in 2008,when it was last run.He campaigned the Spacewalker again to place 2nd this time.
Glen Baldwin had the misfortune to have a deadstick during his first flight however he took the optional third round flight to recover well for 1st placing.

Without judges and officials we could not have run the event so thanks to static judges Neil Hewson & Pat Pinder, flying judges Peter Francis & Murray Tingey, recorder Neil Hewson & scorer Matt Cowe. They all did a great job -thank you fellas.
Thank you to KAMS for accepting the event on their Calendar & having superb facilities which were appreciated by all.

It was a wonderful day, and Scale is ZEN in 2010.
